Tish B’Av Sestina Style Poem

Facing the future takes courage
Sometimes it can scare you to death
History is laden with waves of destruction
We all need community
To help us make sense, there is unity
We have always mourned as a people.

Throughout history our people
Have had to find the courage
Hovering together, in unity
In life and in death
We rely on the community
To overcome destruction.

Every nation will face destruction
Suffering and defeat define a people
Gathering together as a community
Has birthed epic proportions of courage
It takes joy and pain to develop unity
A panorama of diversity strong enough to face death

There is a love stronger than death
One that defies attempts of destruction
Defined by acts of unity
Created by a group of imperfect people
Full of hope and courage
A beautifully broken community.

Pain births the strength of community
Wailing through the seasons of death
Yet there is born a courage
A pillar amidst destruction
There will always be a people
Who chooses to embrace unity.

We are born to desire unity
All pieces make up the community
There will always be a people
Who tremble, yet overcome death
Triumph over plans of destruction
Emulating great courage.

Being alive takes courage
Living fully requires unity
Holding hands through impending destruction
Strengthening the bonds of community
Together through life and death
In highs and lows, we will be a united people.
