We made It Through

We Made It Through
The Pharaoh has perished
Our hope has not
Now we do the work of rejoicing
Rewiring hearts to believe
That victory is attainable
It is not the enemies fate
It’s ours, and ours alone
Every victory comes with a price
We will pay later
Now, we dance like our feet have never moved before
Every generation
And every culture has something to celebrate
Something to dance about
Something to hope for
Every culture and every generation
Has overcome oppression
And every generation
Has a victory song.
We dance with tambourines
And resound our voices
With one another
A people who trek the wilderness
Hand in hand
Are a people who can dance hand in hand
We are good at making circles
As we rejoice in unison
Unison is the best way to rejoice
A thousand voices
Being one voice.
Sing dayenu, but not yet
Because right now this is as good
As its going to get
This moment is a moment
To resound in song
Sing, we sing, and dance along
Proud, but not strong
Our hope is up above
It does not depend on only us.
Every generation has a victory to celebrate
Every culture displays it in its own way.
